If you’re looking for a high-protein chili recipe that actually keeps you full, supports muscle recovery, and tastes incredible—this is it. I thought I would only eat this in the fall, but it genuinely tastes good in every season!
This turkey and sweet potato chili is built differently. Instead of just throwing everything into a pot, this method layers flavor and texture so every bite is the perfect bite.
It’s ideal for:
High-protein meal prep
Fat loss phases (keeps you full longer)
Hormone-supportive, whole-food nutrition
Busy weeks when you need ready-to-go meals
Why This Is One of the Best High-Protein Chili Recipes
~30–40g protein per serving
Loaded with fiber for digestion + satiety
Made with bone broth for gut + joint support
Balanced carbs from sweet potatoes (steady energy)
Freezer-friendly and perfect for batch cooking
Ingredients (Full Batch – ~16 Servings)
4 lbs 98% lean ground turkey
4 cans beans (cannellini + red kidney beans), rinsed & drained
10 cups chicken or beef bone broth (I use these packets and add water)
6 medium sweet potatoes, peeled & diced
2-3 large zucchini, diced (I like a lot of veg)
3 cans tomato paste
Seasonings
2 tablespoons salt
1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
1 ½ tablespoons garlic powder
1 ½ tablespoons onion powder
1 ½ tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 ½ tablespoons cumin
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (divided, plus more to taste)
Instructions (Flavor-Building Method)
Step 1: Build the Chili Base
In a large pot (very large for this batch), add:
Bone broth
All seasonings
2 cans of tomato paste
Turn heat to medium and stir until combined.
Step 2: Cook the Sweet Potatoes in Broth
Peel and dice sweet potatoes into small, bite-sized pieces. Add them directly into the pot.
Let them simmer for about 30 minutes, or until they begin to soften.
Step 3: Prep the Zucchini
While the sweet potatoes cook, dice the zucchini into quarter chunks (similar size to the potatoes) and set aside.
Step 4: Cook the Turkey Separately
In a sauté pan:
Add ground turkey
Add ½ tablespoon Cajun seasoning
Cook until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Then add the remaining can of tomato paste and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to deepen the flavor.
Step 5: Add Beans and Zucchini
Once sweet potatoes are softened:
Add zucchini
Add rinsed and drained beans
Simmer for 15 minutes.
Step 6: Combine Everything
Add the cooked turkey mixture into the large pot.
Simmer for another 15 minutes so all flavors combine.
Step 7: Final Taste Test
Adjust salt, spice, or Cajun seasoning to taste.
