I'm literally eating this as I write. If you're anything like me, you love a recipe that looks like you spent way more time on it than you actually did. This high-protein salmon pasta salad has become one of my favorite healthy lunches because it's creamy, savory, packed with protein, and takes about 10 minutes from start to finish.
The best part? It uses mostly pantry staples. I almost always have a can of wild-caught salmon tucked away for those days when I don't feel like cooking but still want something nourishing.
Whether you're looking for an easy meal prep lunch, a healthy dinner, or a quick high-protein recipe after the gym, this one checks every box.
Why You'll Love This Salmon Pasta Salad
Ready in about 10 minutes
High in protein to help keep you full
Made with simple, wholesome ingredients
Great for meal prep
Perfect cold for lunches
Naturally dairy-free (depending on your mayo)
Easily customizable
Unlike traditional pasta salads loaded with heavy dressings, this version is light and fresh, letting the salmon shine while still being incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
1 can wild-caught salmon, drained
½ tablespoon Primal Kitchen Mayo (or your favorite mayonnaise)
½ cup cooked chickpea pasta (my favorite are spiral or penne)
1 medium tomato, diced
1 tablespoon coconut aminos
½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
Drain the canned salmon and place it in a mixing bowl.
Stir in the mayo until the salmon is evenly coated.
Add the cooked chickpea pasta, diced tomato, and salt.
Toss everything together until well combined.
Drizzle the coconut aminos over the top and gently mix one final time.
Serve immediately or refrigerate for later. (I love to add fresh basil on top at the very end).
Tips for the Best Salmon Pasta Salad
Chill it for 20–30 minutes before eating if you prefer a colder pasta salad.
Cook your chickpea pasta just to al dente, so it doesn't become mushy.
Use wild-caught salmon for the best flavor and added omega-3 fats.
Easy Variations
Want to change it up? Try adding:
Diced cucumber
Chopped celery
Green onions
Avocado
Fresh dill
Parsley
Everything bagel seasoning
Cracked black pepper
A squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Meal Prep Tips
This recipe stores well in an airtight container for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
If you're meal prepping, wait to add the tomato until the day you plan to eat it to keep everything fresh.
High-Protein Benefits
One of my favorite things about this recipe is how much nutrition you get with very little effort.
Wild-caught salmon provides protein along with heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, while chickpea pasta adds extra protein and fiber compared to traditional pasta. Together, they make a balanced meal that's filling without feeling heavy.
